PRELIM EXAM

Yesterday we had our Prelim exam on our Computer Programming 2 subject(JAVA). It was scheduled 5:00-6:30, supposedly we are going to take the exam last Tuesday but due to scarcity of computer units in the laboratory we are not able to join our batch mate. But then, I could say that there's no need to regret because our exam yesterday is such a worth keeping for .

Even though I don't perfect the exam and my program lacks one condition, still Sir Jappeht assure us that we already passed the exam for he saw our great effort. Yeah, it's really worth remembering because a lot of unexpected things happen but I just want to keep it to myself and to the people who are around yesterday. To end this post, I want to leave a short reminder: " Ayaw ug HILAK sa laing tao kay UYAB lang ang ginahilakan!." heheh =)

At Last!!

AT LAST!!

It was July 8, 2008 when our presentation in HRM was scheduled. But due to some reasons we were not able to present on that said day. So we moved it to Thursday, July 10, 2008 and prepared ourselves for the sharing. But unfortunately Sir Gamboa was not around that time. Then again, we rescheduled the borrowing of the LCD projector which we are going to use on the sharing. I guess, the postponement of our presentation is such a blessing in disguise, it gives us more time to prepare and more time to study our topic.

The preparation..
July 15, 2008 has come, the day for our very final presentation. Our class would start on 11o'clock but because I was so nervous and excited about our HRM, i really arrived very early at the school. Immediately upon arrival, I went to the IC nodal and followed up our reservation for the LCD projector. Afterwards, Ym, one of my group mate favored me to get the speakers one of our paraphernalia(for the presentation..hehe) in their apartment for they will be having their quiz.

The presentation proper..
11o'clock had come and started the ball rolling. We are five in the group and assigned different topics to discuss the Human Resource Management organizational structure of our adopted company which is the City government. I admit that they could not avoid to sleep and got bored of just listening to us. So as an ice breaker we taught our classmates a game which we called us Go Choki Pa. Then after that we gave each of them a lollipop as a bonus for their cooperation on the game. Lastly, we held them our experiences throughout the preparation, the visit and the interview we conducted.

My reflection..
The presentation was just so nice. All of them had fun and learned something at the same time. I was very glad because Sir Gamboa also participated in what we prepared on that day. I'm grateful for my group mates because we help each other to make our presentation a successful one indeed!

>>A TIRING YET A VERY NICE TRIP<<

WELL, JUST KILLING THE TIME..

Human Beings..

"Human beings are the most important, potent and critical, resource of any organization, and yet the least understood and the worst managed of its resources"Question

Yes, I agree with this statement. For we people are the most vital factor an organization possesses. Without us an industry could not process and manage well. We are the "gem" of the company as they said. But why is it that we are still taken for granted? They always say that human beings are the cores of an organization, the cream of the crop. However, human beings are still ignored and misunderstood. They just give us less attention and priority. With this scenario an industry had, even of we are the most important resource, still we are the one who could destroy or pull down the success of an organization. So let's change this never-ending cycle. Instead of ignoring these resources, they must give priorities enough for us. They should take good care of these resources and nurture it for the attainment of a great success ahead. Razz

The Relevance of Human Resource Management to BSIT/BSCS..

Why does HRM is included in BSIT/BSCS curriculum?

Human Resource Management (HRM) is the function within an organization that focuses on recruitment of, management of, and providing direction for the people who work in the organization. Human Resource Management is the organizational function that deals with issues related to people such as compensation, hiring, performance management, organization development, safety, wellness, benefits, employee motivation, communication, administration, and training.

Well the question really puzzled us when Sir Gamboa asked. For me Human Resource Management was really essential to our course because basically it was included in our curriculum rather than other subjects right? I guess having a knowledge about Human Resource Management is a great advantage on job-seeking someday.
One example is the profit you can have if you chose to apply on a certain company. You have all the choice to compare two company's, which is more good in terms of benefits or compensation you could have. And they say, it is better for a company to have a non-monetary profit instead of a monetary.
Also all of the right an employee have includes Human Resource Management. It is relevant indeed because it let us know earlier our value as a Human Resource. That's why no one could underestimate or deceit you for in Human Resource Management, the rights and the welfare of the people is the main concern.
As Sir Gamboa said, someday BSIT/BSCS will going to be the heart of the industry. Without us the industry could not process well. We could use all these knowledge to improve and develop our potentials to become the biggest asset to the industry.

>>LINEAR ALGEBRA<<

HUHU!!
Well it's been 4 weeks since the class started. Linear Algebra is one of the subject I had enrolled with. Originally, our schedule is MWF 9:00-10:00 under Sir Canda. However, Sir Val, announced that Sir Canda have loosen some load of units which includes Linear Algebra. We've discovered that we'll be transferred to Sir Dan Ratilla, a new instructor of IC. But unfortunately, Sir Dan schedule conflicts 9:00-10:00 MWF schedule.
Yesterday, Sir Dan met us to find a new schedule for our Linear Algebra. Again, all of his vacant time doesn't fit with our vacant time. So we have no choice but choose the very last option which is Saturday. At first, some of us objected imagine Saturday? time for rest, time for washing the laundry, and of course time for unlimited sleeping..hehe
But even if how we objected, still we have no choice but to agree to the schedule. Take note it's now final, Saturday 7:00-10:00(huhu!!). I just hope I could wake up early and could come on time.

Corporations: 21st Century

The 21st Century Corporations
As the google defines, corporations is the most common form of business organization, and one which is chartered by a state and given many legal rights as an entity separate from its owners. This form of business is characterized by the limited liability of its owners, the issuance of shares of easily transferable stock, and existence as a going concern.

So as asked what does the 21st century corporations look like? Technically, we could considered that our generation belongs to the 21st century in accordance with the Gregorian calendar, the 21st century began on January 1, 2001 and will end December 31, 2100.

Based on what I observed, most of the corporations right now uses unconventional system. They think out of the box. Their perspective when we talk about business is not the usual mainstream anymore. The 21st century corporations will be leaner in terms of human resources due to outsourcing of administration works such as accounting, hiring, payroll and other business and support needs. There were improvement of information system due also to the development of our technology.

The corporations have lessen their used of manual operation system. And most of all, lesser manpower because machines are widely used. They considered more of these high technology innovations because of the efficiency and easier job brought by these things. Therefore, I conclude that the 21st century corporations look like a more competitive, convenient and innovative one.

A Successful Ambush Visit...

Last Thursday, July 3, 2008, we successfully conducted our study about Human Resource Management from our adopted company which is the City Government Human Resource Management Office. But before achieving all of those accomplishments we had, we had also gone with many sacrifices(if you could considered it..heheh). Thursday morning March Dawn, one of our group mate, decided to visit personally the City Hall and followed up the letter we have sent them. She had been accommodated and been immediately approved by the HRMO that day. So they set an appointment that we will be conducting our interview on Friday, July 4, 2008 at 1-2 pm.

As our whole group met, we've discovered that three of our group mates will be having a quiz on that said appointment we had. All of us were very worried thinking what could be the best way to do.

Taking the risk, we decided to go the City hall that afternoon without knowing what would gonna happen on that ambush visit. Exactly 2pm, we arrived at The City HRMO. At first, we were afraid if they would entertain us even if we don't have any appointment on that day yet. We explained our situation. Unexpectedly, they grant our request to conduct the interview earlier on our appointment. They were very accommodating and gave us a warm welcome. I don't even feel the awkwardness.

To our surprised, Mrs. Florita Olegario, HRDD Head, our interviewee told us to conduct our interview at their conference room. And there they presented their power point presentation and answered all of our questions. I was very happy for the accomplishments we had that day. For me, it's an adventure, risky yet fun. And we never regretted that we had chosen The City Government's HRMO as our adopted company. Were very fortunate indeed!

Keep On Keepin' On

Graduation poem - printableby anonymous

The author of these stanzas has caught perfectly the spirit which succeeds in the rough-and-tumble of actual life.

Keep On Keepin' On

If the day looks kinder gloomy
And your chances kinder slim,
If the situation's puzzlin'
And the prospect's awful grim,
If perplexities keep pressin'
Till hope is nearly gone,
Just bristle up and grit your teeth
And keep on keepin' on.

Frettin' never wins a fight
And fumin' never pays;
There ain't no use in broodin'
In these pessimistic ways;
Smile just kinder cheerfully
Though hope is nearly gone,
And bristle up and grit your teeth
And keep on keepin' on.

There ain't no use in growlin'
And grumblin' all the time,
When music's ringin' everywhere
And everything's a rhyme.
Just keep on smilin' cheerfully
If hope is nearly gone,
And bristle up and grit your teeth
And keep on keepin' on.

>>This poem is from our first java exercise, specifically on exercise 3. Well the poem encourages us to strive hard and not to give up. It inspires us a lot to make good on our studies. We, Institute of Computing students could really relate for what the poem was trying to say. Because as they said, we are the endangered species of the university(USEP). So guys! We can do it and just Keep On Keepin' On.
